After letting her fans know that her mother had pneumonia, Gemma Collins has regularly kept them informed, but her most recent update had a more optimistic tone.
As her mother Joan continues to battle pneumonia in the hospital, Gemma Collins has updated her on her health.
The 44-year-old star, who shot to fame on The Only Way Is Essex, revealed earlier this month that she had gone through the “toughest week” and said her mum, 70, was “really struggling”. She also urged her fans to pray for Joan and thanked the medical staff at Broomfield Hospital for looking after her mum.
Today, Gemma shared a new update on social media, saying Joan is “slowly on the mend” which she described as “a miracle from above”. The reality TV star said: “Seeing mummy slowly on the mend today finally is a miracle from above and the incredible doctors and physios at Broomfield hospital. I can’t thank you enough.”

The NHS describes pneumonia as a pulmonary inflammation that is typically brought on by an infection. Although the majority of people recover in two to four weeks, infants, older people, and those with heart or lung conditions are at risk of developing serious illnesses and need hospital care.
Symptoms can develop gradually over the course of a few days or over a quick period of time. A cough, a shortness of breath, a high temperature, chest pain, aching bodies, tiredness, weight loss, breathing problems, wheezing, and confusion are just a few symptoms.
It comes after Gemma claimed Joan had pneumonia, and Gemma called her “really unwell.” Joan had been rushed to the hospital numerous times prior to her most recent health emergency.
Gemma made the announcement that Joan had been ill last year, telling fans that “no day should be taken for granted.” No day should be taken for granted, she said. Mom visited the hospital last night and spent the night there. One thing followed the next in this year.
She also described how a hospital emergency could have resulted in Joan’s death. Gemma told The Sun, “I’ve been under a lot of stress lately. I was informed that my mother might pass away after being unexpectedly taken into the hospital. If she experienced cardiac arrest, they wouldn’t attempt to revive her.
“So imagine that, you know, I’m in the hospital having been out for dinner the day before, and then the next day I’m like, ‘wow’, so that was a massive shock.” It comes as Gemma teased she may quit the UK for a new life in desert paradise.
Sharing a photo of herself on a sofa, she wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Shattered!!! And flying back to Dubai tomorrow.” She then turned to her followers and asked them to share ideas of which part of the Middle Eastern country she could move to. She wrote: “Seriously thinking to move my family to Dubai any lovely places to live let me know.”
