Gemma Atkinson, a soap star, recounted the gruesome incident that made Gorka Marquez reach for the TV remote while watching Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

Gemma Atkinson revealed the grim moment her husband Gorka Marquez walked out of hit Netflix show, Monster: The Ed Gein Story. The Hollyoaks star sat down for a TV night with her Strictly Come Dancing pro husband, but they were soon left horrified.

They tuned into Netflix’s latest true crime series, which many viewers have binge-watched while others have been left too frightened to continue. It follows killer Ed Gein, played by Charlie Hunnam, who is said to have served as inspiration for some of the most iconic horror movies including Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

In rural Wisconsin in the 1950s, the series uncovers Gein’s house of horrors. Gein has been shocked by his crimes because of isolation, psychosis, and an obsession with his mother.

He admitted to making clothing and personal items from human skin and excavating bodies from graveyards. In the first episode of the series, Gein attempts to put on a grotesque mask with hair that appears to have been created by one of his victims.

After their children were to bed, Gemma and Gorka watched the first episode. Gorka is at home and we are having a nice romantic night, the soap star told her fans.

There is nothing romantic about this, Gorka interrupted and said, “We are watching a b****y monster.” It’s repulsive. A laughing Gemma said, “This is awful, put your hand on your face, and that’s it.

Her husband concurred, saying, “It’s awful. I was watching that man when I sat next to two women in rows while taking a plane. I felt so bad. On the plane, I felt ill. I had no idea where to put myself.

Gemma acknowledged, “I can’t stop watching it. It is awful, really. It is terrible. But at least we have feelings, if you weren’t watching this and weren’t feeling that way,” Gorka remarked, “You have a problem.

Gemma then addressed a second message to her fans, saying Gorka had “caved in.” He’s thrown in the towel after getting to the lady bits in the freezer part because “it’s awful Gemah.”

She added: “He’s gone to sleep but I’m still watching.” The show is the latest instalment in Murphy’s ‘Monster’ series – which also covers The Lyle and Erik Menendez story.

Depraved Gein, who frequently left home and lived alone in a far-off place with his family, later became known as “The Butcher of Plainfield.” Before a local woman’s disappearance in 1957 brought him to light, police officers were able to find his horrific secrets. He went unnoticed for a number of years.

Inside the house, authorities discovered bowls made out of skulls, masks made from skin peeled off human faces, and a skull and “face mask” later confirmed to belong to one of Gein’s victims – 54-year-old local tavern owner Mary Hogan.

Mary and another 58-year-old woman, Bernice Worden, were both killed, according to Gein. The 51-year-old twisted murderer admitted to both killings, with the victims alleged to resemble Gein’s mother.
