Romell Glave of Great Britain won the men’s 100-meter final at the Finnish Paavo Nurmi Games against Andre de Grasse and Marcell Jacobs.
With 10.09 and 10.10, respectively, Jerome Blake of Canada and Benjamin Azamati of Ghana, Glave won in that time.
At the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting in Turku on November 22, Canada’s De Grasse, a 200-meter gold medalist from Tokyo 2020, placed sixth.
Jacobs finished in last place at the 100-meter hurdles after winning gold at the Olympics five years ago but for the first time since the 2024 Games in Paris.
Glave, 25, said, “It’s the redemption from the]2024 European Championships where I finished behind Jacobs, who won gold.
“I got the better of him this time,” he said. I was a little sluggish after the heat, but I had enough time to cool down and release it.
In contrast to my previous race, I was able to be patient because I only focused on the first 30 meters.
Morgan Lake of Great Britain, ahead of Jamaica’s Lamara Distin, and Morgan Lake of Great Britain both managed 1.91m in the women’s high jump on countback.
With the top three discus gold, Slovenia’s Kristjan Ceh clinched a seventh straight victory of the year, all three of the top three reaching 70 meters.
Matt Denny, an Olympic bronze medalist from Australia, and Daniel Stahl, a two-time world gold medalist from Sweden, were both defeated by the 2022 world champion thrower, 70.61 meters.
Dylan Beard, an American, reclaimed the 110-meter men’s hurdles with a meeting record of 13.16.
Ditaji Kambundji, a Swiss indoor silver medalist, defeated Pia Skrzyszowska by just 0.02 seconds to win the women’s 100-meter hurdles final.
Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand won the women’s 100m race by 0.04 points, beating Hungary’s Boglarka Takacs, in the heat of 11.09.
