In Australia, Paralympic champion Dave Ellis defends his eighth world title in the PTVI category for athletes with visual impairment.

The 39-year-old Englishman took the lead on the final run after a strong swim under the guidance of Luke Pollard, who led him through the field with the fastest bike leg.

He completed the course in Wollongong, New South Wales, clocking in at 59 minutes, 19 seconds, 20 seconds ahead of Frenchman Antoine Perel, who had already placed second.

Henry Urand, a fellow British triathlete, defeated teammate Ryan Taylor to claim second place in the men’s PTS3 category, defending his world title.

And Lauren Steadman of Great Britain won the bronze medal in the PTS5 race.

The men’s and women’s elite events will host the World Triathlon Championships in Australia on Sunday.
