Joe Clarke, the British kayak cross champion, won his fourth consecutive kayak cross world title in Australia, and Joe Clarke, the winner, declared he was “stuck for words.”

After winning a silver medal at the 2024 Games in Paris, the 32-year-old decided to stop playing the sport.

He claims he struggled to “find his feet” in the subsequent World Cup activities after missing the first few weeks of the season due to the birth of his second child.

Prior to the Canoe Slalom World Championships in Sydney, Clarke won silver in the men’s individual time trials and bronze in the team kayak, but he also showed his class in the kayak cross, continuing his remarkable run that he had already won three of the competition’s previous victories.

After winning silver at the last Olympics last year, it was a dream come here to defend that title, said Clarke, who came in ahead of French canoeist Matyas Novak and French canoeist Mathurin Madore in second place.

I’ve been working toward this because competing on the biggest stage of the Olympics is difficult, but I also took some time off afterward.

The second half of the season has kind of been about finding my feet, but it seems like I have finally found them.
