With his wife Sulina and two dogs, BBC Gardeners’ World expert Adam Frost admits to spoiling their pets a little too much. The couple admit to owning a cat and two dogs.
The plant-loving spirit of Adam Frost is well known. The Gardeners’ World presenter claimed that while he was “sat in front of a psychiatrist with depression and burnout,” he referred to some of his plants as “old friends” in an interview with Gardens Illustrated about his mental well-being.
However, it has now come to light that the Essex-born garden designer is equally devoted to animals. At his Stamford, Lincolnshire home, Adam and his wife Sulina share their lives with a cat called Ash and two dogs, Isla and Buster.
Adam acknowledges that their pets tend to be groomed. He admitted to The Times that “it gets worse as we get older.”
“With the fuss she makes of them, I don’t think Mrs. Frost would yell at me because she claims she’s probably using them to make a slight child’s substitute.”
The Frost family’s most recent addition is miniature Jack Russell Buster, with Adam revealing: “To be fair, Buster partly arrived because my 18-year-old son said, “Dear, I think you need to get Mum something to care for,” although he did say “Because she’s doing my head in,” according to Gloucestershire Live.
When Adam films Gardeners’ World segments from his three-acre rural garden, the Frosts frequently outdo the animals. He recalls a time when “Buster decided to relieve himself behind me” during a video production.
He continued, “I didn’t know it had happened,” suggesting that the program’s editing team probably considered whether to add the unanticipated moment to the final broadcast. Ash, Adam’s feline companion, regularly uses box after box of seedlings as makeshift cat beds in the cozy greenhouse.
Adam revealed that he and Sulina are planning a well-deserved break as their most recent tour is wrapping up. He also mentioned that Mrs. Frost’s holiday fund is benefitted by any profits from his most recent book, For the Love of Plants, so she’s also a very happy lady.
According to Adam, Sulina is “a little scary,” referring to the proverb that “behind every successful man is a strong woman,” and he claimed there is a slight twist in her story.
He remarked, “Every successful man has a strong woman behind her. She is a little scary but more than strong. She is described as a lioness by the children. You end up with Mrs. Frost’s wrath if you offend me or the children. We’re not interested in Mrs. Frost crossing.
Even in the garden, where one might assume Adam would have the final say, Sulina has voiced her own views. While Adam enjoys “gardening for wildlife,” Mrs Frost favours a neater plot.
