The businesswoman became a breakout star of Netflix’s reality show Members Only Palm Beach
Drama-filled reality series Members Only Palm Beach debuted on Netflix back in December, introducing viewers to five wealthy woman seeking power and influence in one of the world’s most exclusive postcodes.
Society veteran Gale Brophy has proven to be one of the show’s breakout stars since its release despite her role as a supporting figure. Throughout the episodes she is shown mentoring one of the main cast members, Rosalyn Yellin, in how to be a successful socialite.
She finds herself at the centre of her fair share of spats, including with property developer Hilary Musser who questions how authentic the Palm Beach ‘Grande Dame’ really is. It prompts Gale to confront her with a stack of magazine articles about herself, including some in which she graces the cover.
However, it appears the drama depicted on screen has been spilling over into real-life, with Gale taking to Instagram to issue a lengthy statement following reports of a feud with her co-star, Taja Abitbol.
The alleged beef reportedly began after Taja had Gale “removed” from her party promoting their new Netflix show. Meanwhile Gale alleged that she had been handled “roughly” on her way out and shut down speculation that she had been “intoxicated” at the event.
Now the businesswoman has declared that she will not be fuelling any further reports of a beef with Taja in a lengthy Instagram statement. She began: “Since the Members Only: Palm Beach premiere on Netflix, there’s been a lot of press — and not just about the show itself.
“What I want to clarify is this: the narrative changed, and it wasn’t changed by me. Multiple media outlets and eyewitnesses have reported that what was first suggested publicly did not align with what actually happened. That’s why the story has continued to evolve.”
She continued: “Several reports have described the situation as a rookie mistake — an attempt to ice someone out of press and filming when attention wasn’t landing where expected. Commentators and witnesses have openly questioned whether jealousy played a role, noting that the move ultimately backfired, creating the opposite impression of what was intended.
“I didn’t come to compete for attention. I showed up as myself — calm, respectful, and gracious. The cameras followed on their own. The press followed the facts. And the images spoke louder than any statement.
“I won’t engage in name-calling or drama. I don’t need to. When the coverage, photos, and firsthand accounts all point in the same direction, the truth tends to reveal itself — and the public decides.
“I’ll continue moving forward with dignity, letting my character speak louder than controversy.”
Away from her reality TV career, Gale is the CEO and owner of a property company, running two five-star estates which are billed as an alternative getaway to The Hamptons. Before this, she held top positions in a number of lucrative businesses in the worlds of finance, PR and especially horse racing.
