Taylor Swift has confirmed her 12th studio album is called The Life Of A Showgirl
Taylor Swift has unveiled her 12th studio album titled The Life Of A Showgirl. At 12.12am today (August 12), Swift revealed the thrilling news about her latest record, which followed a cryptic countdown on her website and a series of hints that a fresh album was on the horizon, sending fans into overdrive with speculation.
No release date has been confirmed for the new album. However, supporters can pre-order it, and the album’s colour scheme features green and orange. The actual cover art remains under wraps for now. Swift’s profile picture across her social media platforms has been refreshed with an image of an orange sparkly padlock against a green backdrop.
A brief segment from the New Heights podcast, presented by her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, a retired NFL athlete, was posted on Instagram. In the footage, Swift is spotted retrieving a copy of the new album from a briefcase, though the artwork is obscured, reports Bristol Live.
“So, I wanted to show you something,” she informed Jason and the audience. Displaying a vinyl of the fresh record she said: “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl.” Kelce shouted: “TS12!”
Based on Swift’s website, physical editions of the album, available for pre-order, will be dispatched by October 13. This record represents her debut release since announcing in May that she had reclaimed ownership of her back catalogue.
It comes after 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department. Taylor Swift has compiled a Spotify playlist for her freshly revealed The Life Of A Showgirl album, which appears to hint at a partnership with producers Max Martin and Shellback.
The playlist, dubbed “and baby, that’s show business for you,” was assembled a fortnight ago and went public immediately following the album reveal. It boasts 22 tracks, all drawn from her earlier releases.
Devoted fans swiftly spotted that every tune featured was crafted by Max Martin and Shellback, with whom the chart-topper has worked on Red, 1989, and most recently, Reputation. Both Shellback and Martin were instrumental in her transition from country to pop, helping create some of her most massive hits – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, Shake It Off, and Don’t Blame Me were all produced by the pair.
In a Reddit discussion titled “And, baby, that’s show business for you – Official Playlist by Taylor”, numerous devotees have voiced their opinions on the fresh album announcement. Many people suspect the upcoming ‘Showgirl’ album will be produced by Max Martin and Shellback and will feature a more pop music style, based on the 22 songs included in this ‘Showbusiness’ playlist.
One said: “All songs produced by Max Martin and Shellback… Oh pop taylor is BACKKKK baby.” Another said: “22 is the first song and there are 22 songs on the playlist. The 2s are 2ing…again”. A third said: “And they all happen to be songs she did with Max Martin and Shellback.” Another fan said: “This is gonna be a fun album for sure!”
Someone else said: “Alphabetical order max martin and shellback!” One more said: “Um, all these are Max Martin tracks, like every single one.” Another said: “Am a Jack defender but I think it’s cool that’s she’s working with Max Martin and Shellback for this project!”
