Following their pairing in Friday’s draw, Liverpool will face Paris Saint-Germain in one of the standout ties in the Champions League’s final 16 matches.
PSG had to win a two-legged play-off tie, where they defeated fellow French side Brest 10-0 on aggregate, while Liverpool placed first in the 36-team league phase of the competition to advance to this stage.
On March 4 or 5, the first leg will take place at Paris’ Parc des Princes, followed by Anfield for the second leg.
In the Champions League’s group stage, PSG won 2-1 at home after Liverpool won 3-2 in England, the last time the two teams met.
Real Madrid, the reigning champions, will face Atletico Madrid in a replay of the 2014 and 2016 finals, both of which Los Blancos won.
Bayern Munich will face Bayer Leverkusen in the play-offs, while PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan will face Feyenoord.
Barcelona will face Benfica, who they defeated 5-4 away in Lisbon in the league phase last month.
After already losing to the Belgians in the league match, Aston Villa will face Club Brugge.
Borussia Dortmund, the previous season’s champion, will face Lille, France.
