Tony Maudsley, a soap star, has been a staple on our screens for a long time, but his Harry Potter appearance has shocked viewers.
Tony Maudsley, a half-giant, made a memorable appearance in the Harry Potter universe before he was digging graves in Weatherfield.
In September 2020, the actor made his first appearance on the ITV soap as George Shuttleworth’s son, Roy Hudd, who has since passed away. But he had a buried cameo of his own in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was released on July 12, 2007, 17 years before he was burying Corrie legends.
Tony played the beloved Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid, played by the late Robbie Coltrane, as Grawp’s gentle half-brother in the wizarding world. The character’s appearance on-set was enhanced by Tony giving the character’s impressive 16-foot height through a combination of CGI and motion capture.

Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), the cruel Ministry official who took over as Hogwarts Headmistress, was largely influenced by Grawp’s kind-hearted nature in the movie. Hermione lured her into the Forbidden Forest, where Grawp escorted her into a irate herd of centaurs after she threatened Harry with the Cruciatus Curse.
Dolores assumed control as Headmistress after replacing Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), having a deep anti-“half-breed bias.
Hagrid also requested that if anything bad happens to him, he asks Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Emma Watson to take care of him.
Hermione consented to reveal Dumbledore’s “secret weapon” as Umbridge was about to resort to the Cruciatus curse on Harry.
Tony explained the role to Female First: “I was so weighed down by these enormous monster feet that I couldn’t enter the canteen and travel back in time.
Tony is well-known on British television thanks to his fan-favorite role in the hairdresser’s role in Benidorm. Also, don’t expect his Corrie to vanish anytime soon either.
Tony also made a joke about having job security in the bag on Coronation Street v. Emmerdale last year on The Big Soap Quiz Coronation Street. When asked how George was doing in Weatherfield, he responded, “Well, business is booming as always in Weatherfield. The best aspect of playing George is that no one can bury me, so they can’t kill me! So, yes, I’m still there, me.
Other Corrie stars Channique Sterling-Brown and Jack P Shepherd made guest appearances on the quiz show, and Stephen Mulhern hosted the soap opera battle.
Tony Maudsley’s career has been anything but ordinary, from magical forests to elaborate funeral homes, which is why fans adore him.
