After the head coach was booed following Thursday’s draw at Brentford, Thomas Frank says he understands and feels the frustration of Tottenham supporters.

Before kick-off, former Brentford boss Frank, who hasn’t played since June 2, received a standing ovation from Bees fans.

However, after the goalless draw, the Spurs supporters who were traveling also chanted “boring, boring Tottenham” to him.

Spurs now sit 12th in the Premier League, with just two victories from their last ten top-flight games.

When asked about the chants, Frank responded, “I will try to change that question so that Tottenham fans will be in your shoes if you succeed.”

“So the fans will get behind us,” and I’m pretty sure there are many fans behind us, despite the fact that I was booed last night.

After Tottenham finished the season in 17th place, Frank was chosen to replace Ange Postecoglou over the summer.

With Postecoglou in charge, Spurs already have shown signs of recovery in their defense, recording seven clean sheets in the Premier League. They have only managed six league shutouts overall in 2024-25.

Prior to the Brentford trip, they defeated Crystal Palace 1-0.

Frank acknowledges that there are still room for improvement, but he adds that there are plenty of positive reasons.

We want to be a free-flowing team, Frank said.

Our final two away performances received some positive reinforcement, I said. We were developing a very strong defensive foundation, and we were very strong at it. We understood how to end their transitions, which is very important.

“We are working very hard to combat the offensive aspect of the game.”

Football is a “game of mistakes,” according to the author. If half of those can be better, it will provide more attacks even if you lose the ball.

As he continues to battle a lengthy absence list, Frank, who led Brentford for seven years, was unable to call on several important figures on Thursday.

Xavi Simons is receiving a suspension, while James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, and Dejan Kulusevski are all injured on the sidelines.

“We are probably in a transition,” Frank said, “but the expectation is good.”

Not that we don’t want to play much better, but the club, the squad, the injuries, everything that is taken into account are all factors.
