Four players have been subject to a lengthy ban from all football-related activities because of their involvement in match-fixing crimes in the A-League of Australia.

During Macarthur FC’s game against Sydney FC in December 2023, Kearyn Baccus and Clayton Lewis received A $10, 000 (£4, 940) each for their respective self-inflicted bookings.

Both received a two-year conditional release order in September, and Football Australia has now outlawed them for five years, starting in May 2024.

In order to reduce their bans by one year, they also accepted the offer to complete 200 hours of unpaid community service in football.

Riku Danzaki and Yuta Hirayama, both of whom are Japanese, are currently prohibited for seven years starting in June 2025.

Danzaki, a former Western United midfielder, admitted to having knowingly earned yellow cards in numerous A-League games in April and May.

He won A$16, 000 (£7, 900) from amateur player friend Hirayama.
