Tyson Fury, the former world heavyweight champion, retired from boxing in December of that year after falling to Oleksandr Usyk in a fight for three of the four major world titles.
The British actor announced his return in a social media post, which opens the door to a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua.

He said, “I’ve been away for a while, but I’m back today, 37 years old, and still punching.” There is nothing more satisfying than to punch people in the face and get paid for it.
Fury had won 34 fights, drawing one, and losing to Usyk in his previous two fights.
Fury did not name any potential foes, but Fury’s announcement comes as there is more rumor about a 2026 rivalry between him and British rival Joshua. Joshua, a former world champion, defeated Jake Paul, a YouTuber, last month. However, he was seriously hurt in a fatal car accident this week in Nigeria that left two of his friends dead, which has sparked doubts about his future plans.
Fury has won two world championships. With a points win in 2015, he won the title of Super WBA, IBF, and WBO champion, putting an end to Wladimir Klitschko’s reign.
He didn’t fight again until 2018, but a thrilling trilogy with American Deontay Wilder earned him the WBC title after a draw and two victories.
Fury had previously stated that he was retiring after his 2022 victory over Dillian Whyte, but he later came back in the ring.
