According to the spokesman, Michael Ragusa, in a post on X, Giuliani suffered a fractured vertebra as well as other cuts late on Saturday night. He claimed that Giuliani’s rental car was struck at high speed, adding that it wasn’t a planned attack.
According to Ragusa, Giuliani, 81, was taken to a nearby trauma center where he was receiving treatment for injuries like “a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg.”
Giuliani contacted police on her behalf after being “flagged down by a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident” prior to the accident, according to Ragusa.
Giuliani continued on his way after the police arrived, and his car was struck shortly after pulling onto the highway. In an emailed statement, Ragusa claimed the car crash was “entirely unrelated” to the domestic violence incident.
Giuliani is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon, according to Ragusa, who described him as “in great spirits.”
The one-time unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate’s campaign trail was sparked by the weekend crash, which came after the attacks on September 11, 2001, when he was referred to as “America’s mayor.”
Giuliani later worked for Trump as his personal attorney and vocal supporter of Joe Biden’s false allegations of fraud in the 2020 election.
Numerous recounts, reviews, and audits of the election results revealed no indications of significant wrongdoing or error, and Trump and his supporters lost numerous lawsuits claiming fraud.
