Marvin Brown, 42, passed away from cancer at the age of 42. He was a former Bristol City forward.

When Brown made his debut in September 1999, he was 16 years and 71 days old. He became the Championship club’s youngest player ever.

Before leaving for Rovers of Forest Green in the summer of 2004, he played for England’s Under-16 and Under-17 sides and 26 times in total.

He later founded Total Pro Soccer, a development facility for young boys in the city, and played for Tamworth, Yeovil Town, Salisbury, and Salisbury. He also served as a youth coach in his native Bristol.

One of life’s good guys, you say?

Alexis Brown

After joining at a “very difficult time” for the club, he became the joint manager of Corsham Town FC in the summer of 2024, who also paid tribute to Brown as an “instant favorite” among supporters and staff. He won 10 games in a row as a result.

He would always stay with the team after the game to talk about life and football, even when he became ill.

We send our thoughts and condolences to his young family at this time because he will be greatly missed.

Brown was unable to obtain life insurance because he had previously experienced a number of serious health issues throughout his life, including being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022.

More than £63, 000 has been raised as a result of a fundraiser for his wife Alexis and their two daughters.

On November 9th, a Marvin Brown XI will face a Bristol City XI in a charity game at Bath City’s Twerton Park in an effort to raise more money.

Joe Burnell, Brown’s former Bristol City teammate, is one of those involved in the game.

He described him as a “truly happy, funny, bright, caring, and kind lad” on BBC Radio Bristol.

He was undoubtedly one of the academy’s graduates, and many of the boys who have gone through have always been pretty grounded.
