With a 4-2 victory over Ipswich, Nottingham Forest increased their chances of winning the Champions League next year.

Third-placed Forest opened a six-point lead over Manchester City in fifth thanks to a Brighton side’s 2-2 draw at Etihad Stadium, which held them to a 2-2 draw.

Second-placed Arsenal will face fourth-placed Chelsea on Sunday (13:30 GMT), and Nuno Espirito Santo’s Forest side has a chance to succeed on many fronts as they make their first European debut since 1995-1996.

Sixth-placed Newcastle are currently two points adrift of Chelsea and are now only a point behind them when they play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday (16:30 GMT). They could also benefit from having a game in hand on Saturday.

Brighton and Newcastle are tied for 47 points, while Bournemouth’s attempt to equalize was thwarted by a 2-1 defeat at Brentford.

“We have nine games and nine finals,” the statement read.

Forest were battling to stay in the top flight of England at this point last season.

Nuno is unmoved despite overseeing the transition from relegation candidates to leading the Champions League selection process.

The Portuguese manager for Forest, “You know what I think about the table.”

“To concentrate on ourselves, to concentrate on ourselves. Because there is still a lot of football to play, we must work as best we can.

Pep Guardiola said he could feel the anxiety surrounding Etihad Stadium after City’s draw against the Seagulls, but he is confident they will win the elite club competition in Europe.

I’m always confident that I am a master. There are times when I can doubt things, but I always find the positive in everything.

“I respect Brighton and Nottingham Forest, but it’s harder than people think to make the top four,” he said.

Can European push from Seagulls and Bees be carried out?

Brighton midfielder Jack Hinshelwood spoke to BBC Match of the Day about their growing confidence in the 124-year history of qualifying for Europe.

We have faith in ourselves to be able to defeat anyone in every game we’re on. The support staff was incredible. It will be difficult to stop us if we can maintain this momentum, he said.

We had a taste of what life can be like last season. We’re aiming to return to that feeling as a club.

After defeating Bournemouth on the south coast, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard also boosted their chances.

We knew that if we wanted to get something a little bigger this season, we had to win it at this point in the season, regardless of where we are and where they are.

Why not try to [qualify for Europe]? The relegation battle is still largely unfought. With that freedom, we should be able to effectively attack the final nine games.

Who will likely qualify for Europe?

The likelihood of teams placing in each position is estimated using Opta’s League Prediction model.

Using the Opta Power Rankings and the betting market odds, the model calculates the likelihood of each game’s win, draw, or loss.

Additionally, it considers the strength of opposing teams in addition to the historical and recent team performances.

According to the report, Liverpool has a 99.99% chance of winning the Premier League title and is 100% certain of placing in the top four.

Nottingham Forest’s chances are up to 65.88%, while Manchester City’s chances of winning the Champions League for the 15th time in a row are down to 57.12%, while Arsenal currently has a 99.15% chance of finishing the season in the top four.

Chelsea is expected to be in good hands with 36.08% and 30.52%, but Brighton and Aston Villa, who are given only 6.4% and 2.4% chances, respectively, are ineligible.

How do nations advance to the Champions League?

The Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League are the three men’s club competitions that Uefa ranks its teams in based on their performance in each nation’s league.

Two wins and one draw earn coefficient points for the winning combination.

The number of clubs the domestic league has in Europe is calculated using the points earned by the domestic league.

For instance, if England had 100 points in the Premier League, that number would be divided by the number of teams playing in Europe (7.8).

Champions League clubs that are participating in it this season will receive bonus points, which is advantageous for leagues with more competing clubs like Germany and Italy.

The top two of the coefficient table’s countries receive an additional Champions League spot the following year.

The teams with the best positions in those leagues receive those spots.

The top four Premier League clubs automatically advance to the Champions League by virtue of their position, so the team in fifth place would receive any additional spots.
