Fleetwood’s PGA Tour triumph can open ‘floodgates’

After winning his first American Tour Championship title in Atlanta, Tommy Fleetwood’s first coach believes the “floodgates can open.”

At America’s most lucrative tournament, European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald will be delighted to see one of his heroes leave Bradley, Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, and Russell Henley in his wake.

Bradley is currently in crunch talks with his vice-captains, Jim Furyk, Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kisner, and Gary Woodland, about his choices in New York, while Donald has another week to stew over his six wildcard picks.

If Bradley becomes the first playing skipper since 1963, they must make a decision. He placed 11th on the waiting list, and Bethpage Black, the venue where US President Donald Trump will be exhibiting, invited him.

The choice becomes confounding if Bradley chooses Sam Burns over Cameron Young, a top-notch New Yorker who won the state championship at Bethpage, as well as Bradley.
