Due to his wife’s sperm treatment, Lock Thibaud Flament will miss France’s Six Nations opener against Ireland.
Flament was chosen for the tournament’s 42-man squad, but Fabien Galthie, the coach, announced that he would miss Stade de France on February 5 for “personal reasons.”
You can’t control the date, Flament, who claimed his wife had endometriosis, told French newspaper L’Equipe.
He continued, “We learned at the beginning of January that Ireland and ART (assisted reproductive technology) fall during the same week.
“I won’t play because I saw this possibility coming,” he said.
Flament will most likely be replaced by Hugo Auradou.
Endometriosis can lead to fertility issues because it causes tissue that is similar to the lining of the womb to grow elsewhere, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
IVF and other medical procedures are used to assist people and couples who are experiencing fertility issues.
