Five Students Abducted As Gunmen Attack Rivers Community

Following an early-morning attack on the Rumuche/Rumuohia community in the Emohua Local Government Area, the Rivers State Police Command confirmed the abduction of five people.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a police statement claimed, five suspected cultists stormed a remote neighborhood, shooting sporadic shots before dispersing their victims.

According to the vice chancellor of Rivers State University, the victims are believed to be students of the Emohua campus, as confirmed by the professor Zeb Obioi in a trending video. He said, “During our convocation on Friday and Saturday we’re very sure that this issue will be raised and discussed, we’re very sure that we’re expecting the visitor, and I can tell you there’s no way the visitor will see these that are happening and will not take your pleas. Our top priority should be right now in ensuring these students’ safety.

Further, the university administrator continued, “Right now we’re going to concentrate efforts on making sure we get our students who have been abducted safely back.” Those responsible for this evil must be caught. We’ll follow them until we find them.

In response, other service commanders and the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, made a quick assessment at the scene. The Area Commander, tactical units, and the Joint Task Force have been given instructions by the CP to immediately launch operations to apprehend and rescue the abducted victims.

He promised to follow the suspects and face the full weight of the law when they were found.

The Police Command pleaded with the public to remain calm and for more accurate information to aid the investigation.
