The public and bitter fallout between Brooklyn Beckham and his family wages on with the 26-year-old sending a legal letter asking them to stop contacting him – we take a look at some of the reasons he may have iced them out of his life
The Beckham’s feud has taken a dramatic turn after Brooklyn Beckham blocked his parents on Instagram and banned them from contacting him – and now with the 26-year-old sending a legal letter outlining his request.
The 26-year-old has publicly fallen out with his famous family with their relationship reportedly coming tense just after his wedding to American actress Nicola Peltz, 31, and now it appears that the relationship between the clan has completely fallen apart. The young chef decided to cut all contact with his family in order to protect his mental health, as he told friends that his parents posts about him online were impacting him – and if he was going to attempt to ease relations he wants to do it “privately”.
Last month, his younger brother Cruz announced on Instagram that Brooklyn had blocked his family, posting in an Instagram story: “My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. They woke up blocked … as did I.” An alleged breach of the legal letter was why he blocked his parents, after Victoria liked a video he had uploaded where he cooked a chicken.

Wedding dress row
The troubles first began after Victoria Beckham and Nicola reportedly butted heads over her wedding dress. The opulence at the jaw-dropping £3 million bash left even the Beckham’s stunned and it wasn’t long before whispers of a Beckham-Peltz family feud began making headlines. Nicola and mother-in-law Victoria Beckham were said to be at the heart of it, with sources claiming tension began brewing in the lead-up to the big day. When Nicola and Brooklyn got engaged, the mother-of-the-groom told Nicola she’d love to create a gown for the big day – but rumours swirled that the bride “refused” to wear one of Victoria’s haute dresses, and instead chose a custom Valentino design instead.
Reports at the time claimed that Victoria was disappointed Nicola chose to wear a Valentino dress rather than a dress designed by her own label. Nicola later denied the rumours, calling them “hurtful”, but fans noticed the frosty vibes when neither side publicly posted photos together after the ceremony. “I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” she told Variety at the time.
Tensions also brewed on the wedding day after Victoria “hijacked” a dance at the wedding in 2022. A source close to the couple claimed: “Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding. Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham!” A second insider added that the entire room was so shocked that Anthony called Victoria’s name over Nicola’s that a complete silence followed. “It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock – you could hear a pin drop.”
David’s 50th birthday snub
Brooklyn, now going by Peltz-Beckham, further deepened the bubbling feud after he snubbed his dad David Beckham’s 50th birthday party. The football legend turned 50 in May 2025, got the celebrations under way in Miami and was joined by his wife, Victoria Beckham, and their youngest kids Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13, but eldest son Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz, were nowhere to be seen.
A source claimed David was “heartbroken”, despite Brooklyn telling his parents he wasn’t attending, but the source told the Sun that the former Manchester United player had hoped Brooklyn would “change his mind” after being told “a while ago” that he wouldn’t attend the party. “It’s a dagger to the heart that he hasn’t attended a single one of David’s 50th celebrations – and hurts the whole family including the grandparents and siblings,” the source said.
Secret vow renewal
Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their wedding vows in front of 200 guests without Beckham family in attendance, which caused even more speculation over the family feud. Brooklyn and Nicola had decided to renew their vows in August 2025, after celebrating their third wedding anniversary. A source told the Mirror: “This is a moment to celebrate their love and commitment, and to create a meaningful memory together.” While one photo showed much of Nicola’s family beside her, it included her parents and other siblings, but no Beckham family were seen.
Not only was his father-in-law Nelson the officiant, it’s been claimed that Brooklyn has grown “so close” to his in-laws and last year enjoyed a holiday abroad with Nicola’s family and was seen hugging Nelson whilst on the trip together. A source previously told the Mirror: “He just doesn’t feel his family have treated Nicola well and now that he’s grown so close to her family in the States, he doesn’t really feel like he fits into the Beckham family right now.”
Cease and desist letter
A legal letter sent last summer urged David and Victoria to only communicate with his lawyers instead, and to cease direct contact. A source familiar with the row claims the situation arose only after his “requests to stop” had gone ignored. “It had been leading to issues with his mental health….it was to protect himself,” said the source. David and Victoria were left devastated when they received a legal request to block all direct contact with him. They are “desperately sad” about the situation and friends say every post or contact has been done out of a desire for reconciliation.
David and Victoria only tried to contact the couple to try and resolve things, pals claim. The aggressive legal approach is said to have blindsided them. Nicola’s father has previously hired £800-an-hour lawyer Marty Singer, who represented Prince Andrew and Bill Cosby, to sue wedding planners for Nicola and Brooklyn’s big day in 2022. The case was eventually settled. Brooklyn is also said to be deeply hurt by “misogynistic” claims that wife Nicola Peltz is somehow calling the shots, and behind the estrangement.
Roast chicken video led to blocking
Even though he had made it clear to his parents he wasn’t going to communicate with them himself, he took it once step further and blocked his whole family on social media. It stemmed after Victoria liked one a video featuring him cooking, as well as dad David posting a black and white picture of him as a child at Xmas. He has since blocked his parents online. One of the main issues at play is that Brooklyn believes his parents still see him as a child and not as an adult. A pal said: “Even the Xmas post by his dad was of Brooklyn as a child.”
An anonymous source told the Sun: “Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heartbreaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents. The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately not publicly.” The source added: “To be clear, this was a request via lawyers, not a direct legal threat. But, naturally, it is an unprecedented move which shows just how bad things have become.”
