
Five people were confirmed dead on Thursday in Lagos, and two others were hurt in two traffic accidents, according to the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The accident took place at Abijo Bus Stop, under the pedestrian bridge, inward the Epe corridor, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
It explained that a Mitsubishi pickup truck with the registration number AKD 733 JM lost control and crashed into a stationary Craneburg Construction Company equipment while it was lawfully parked and was moving at dangerous speeds.

Four occupants, three men and one woman, were killed, according to the agency, whose bodies were found lifeless at the scene of the collision.
Three additional female occupants were successfully saved from the wreckage, according to LASTMA’s operatives.
Additionally, it stated that the survivors’ bodies were quickly stabilized and transferred to nearby medical facilities for urgent care and evaluation.
A Toyota Escort Jeep, which was traveling inward Bogije along the same Lekki-Epe Expressway at top speed, collided with a parked Dangote truck overnight, according to the agency.
The SUV driver was killed in the collision, and two other passengers, who were severely injured and trapped inside the crushed car, were expertly extracted after a delicate rescue operation by LASTMA personnel.
Both survivors were immediately taken into custody of officers from the Elemoro Police Division, according to LASTMA’s Director, Adebayo Taofiq, who ensured their prompt transport to medical facilities for life-saving intervention.
He cited Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the general manager of LASTMA, as saying that the accidents were a terrible tragedy and could have been avoided.

Additionally, the GM issued a warning to all drivers to abstain from dangerous driving, particularly excessive speeding, which he claimed is still one of the most pervasive infractions causing fatalities on the road.
“These incredibly depressing events serve as grim reminders of the catastrophic repercussions of the willful violation of established speed laws.”
To prevent such tragedies, the Lagos State government has made significant investments in traffic control infrastructure, including high-visibility furniture and speed limiters.
