First Lady Emerges as Grand Patron for 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Championship

Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, was honored as the tournament’s Grand Patron for the African Women’s Volleyball Championship in 2025.

The Comptroller General, Mr. Wale Adeniyi, the president of Nigeria, led by the National Sports Commission, and the governor of Abuja, made the announcement on Saturday during a visit by the State House in Abuja.

Sen. Tinubu emphasized that women have a rightful place in all of the country and can fill that position with perseverance and dedication while expressing her gratitude for the honor.

Women can occupy that space with their continued dedication and hard work, she said, adding that “they have a space in all spheres.”

The first lady also praised the tireless efforts of female athletes for Nigeria’s respectable position in the world sports community.

She urged them to use their success and perseverance to mentor and inspire young Nigerian girls.

“I can see that three of the four deputy treasurer generals are women,” I can tell you. And that indicates that you have worked consistently.

“You must have worked hard to be at the top,” the saying goes. Don’t just take your place when you have a platform; lift others and motivate them.

The Customs CG, Adeniyi, praised Mrs. Tinubu’s unwavering support for female athletes, saying, “There is a popular saying that the earth will respond to a woman who puts her hand to the plow, the earth will respond to her.”

You have an unmatched spirit and generosity that inspires everyone.

23 African countries, including Nigeria, will compete in the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Championship, which will take place on April 1 through April 14.
