A one-storey shopping complex housing clothing dealers at 1, Amore Street, Ajegunle Boundary, Lagos, was destroyed by a fire outbreak, leaving thousands of naira-losers.
Around 2:40 a.m., the state’s emergency response plan was activated, according to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the state’s permanent secretary.
The shopping complex was already engulfed in flames when LASEMA’s responders arrived at the scene at around 3:22 a.m., according to LASEMA.
The stores were primarily used for clothing storage and sale, according to reports, and the fire quickly spread because of the high levels of combustible materials.

The LASEMA Response Team’s preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was brought on by a power surge following the restoration of the country’s electricity supply.
No injuries or fatalities were reported despite the incident’s size.
According to LASEMA, its response team immediately established safety precautions to avoid harming adjacent buildings by conducting a risk assessment.
The organization successfully contained and put an end to the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures, in collaboration with other emergency responders.
The one-storey shopping complex and nearby stores were completely destroyed by the fire, according to the organization, adding that a physical examination revealed only partial structural damage, necessitating an immediate structural integrity check.

Since the end of the firefighting season, damping-down activities are in progress to remove residual heat and stop re-ignition.
It stated that both rescue and recovery operations had been completed.
A review of fire safety measures and storage practices in nearby commercial buildings, as well as ongoing monitoring of the scene, were suggested by LASEMA in order to prevent a repeat of the incident.
