About 10 shops have been destroyed by fire in Oshodi, Lagos, in the Arena Market.
This was made known by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in a statement released on Tuesday.
At around 17:50 today, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call about a fire outbreak at Arena Market, Bolade, Oshodi. At around 17:55 hours, firefighting units were dispatched right away and arrived on the scene, according to the Service’s Controller General, Margaret Adeseye, in a statement that read in part.
Five (5) 40-foot container stores arranged in two rows, totaling ten stores, were affected by the fire, which was occurring in one of the market.
The affected area has been confined to the affected area and kept out of flames because it is primarily used to store and sell clothing items that were stored in bales. There is no chance of the fire spreading to other areas of the market because the situation is completely under control.

Adeseye stated that all precautions have been taken to protect lives and property, adding that updates will be provided as needed and an investigation will be conducted into the fire’s cause.

The 22-storey Great Nigeria Insurance House on Martins Street in Lagos Island was completely destroyed last week by a massive fire.
