
The 22-store Great Nigeria Insurance House on Martins Street in Lagos Island is in a massive fire.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) made this known in a situation report that was shared.
The fire reportedly started in an apartment on the fourth floor, according to a situation report from Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, Public Safety Officer at LASEMA.
It quickly spread to other floors, eventually gaining rapid upward momentum until the sixth floor.
Firefighting operations are still running, so it’s not known how many people have died.

Emergency response teams include LRU Paramedics, LSA Fire & Rescue, Federal Fire Service, LNSC, Nigeria Police, Red Cross, and LASEMA.
The LRU Fire team has been activated to assist with containment and rescue operations, along with six fire trucks and a skylight.
