The Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) contract awarded for the 98 km of Oyo-Ogbomoso Road has been terminated by the Federal Government.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed this on Thursday at a Federal Roads Stakeholders ‘ engagement, themed, ‘ Enhancing Federal Roads in Oyo State: Challenges and Sustainable Solutions, ‘ in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Umahi further stated that the agreement would soon be re-awarded to a new contractor.
Remember that the Oyo/Ogbomoso road construction has been stalled for a while, resulting in numerous fatalities as well as lost revenue for traders and farmers who traverse the route every day because it serves as a major link between the north and the south of the nation.

The Federal Government also recently terminated the Obajana-Benin Road contracts with three companies, citing non-performance by the firms.
The government ended contract numbers 6136, 6137 and 6138 with Mothercat Ltd, Dantata &, Sawoe Construction Ltd and RCC Ltd, respectively.
The contractors’ “failure, neglect, and/or refusal to fulfill their contractual obligations as required by the Standard Conditions of Contract” were also referenced by the government, which has affected the contractors’ ability to finish the projects on time and by expiring contracts.
The 740bn contract between Julius Berger (Nig.) and the Federal Government for the rehabilitation of the 82-kilometer Abuja-Kaduna dual carriageway was terminated similarly. Plc over non-performance.
Umahi complained that the Federal Executive Council’s approval of the site’s mobilization was putting an unnecessary strain on the road users, and that FG was the one wholly responsible for the situation.
He had warned that the ministry under his control wouldn’t tolerate acts of obscene conduct and sabotage committed by contractors whose intentions would cause the current administration to slog in the progress of the country.
