FG Approves Relocation Of 29 Custodial Centres

The Federal Government has approved the relocation of 29 of Nigeria’s 250 custodial centers as part of efforts to secure the country’s custodial centers in addition to improving the welfare of inmates.

When the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) headquarters in Abuja received a commission for the delivery of inmates to and from courts, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, made the disclosure.

The Minister announced the relocation of such facilities, some of which are facing the gate of a state government house and are located within a government reserve area or are shared fence with markets and private residences.

The Correctional Service faces an increasing number of challenges as a result of the purchase of the vehicles, particularly in terms of ensuring the timely production of inmates in correctional facilities.

The Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service, speaks at a separate event on Advance Passenger Information about discussions that the UN Organization for Counter Terrorism held in Bangkok, Thailand, last year.

Determined to checkmate terrorists, the Minister of Interior announced the Federal Government’s plan to cancel its Visa-on-Arrival policy.
