According to Wayne Rooney, Sir Alex Ferguson would not have permitted his players to conduct half-time interviews.

Rooney said he does not understand how footballers can benefit from “crazy” interviews occurring during a game in a new BBC podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show.

Martin Odegaard, the manager of Arsenal, spoke to Sky Sports at halftime during the Premier League match against Manchester United last weekend.

Rooney thinks Ferguson, who led Manchester United for nine years, would have been vehemently opposed to the idea if it had been brought up while in charge.

That’s for sure, I know how he would have responded, and it wouldn’t have been in a nice way. Rooney stated. There is no way that Alex Ferguson would have been involved in this.

When I signed for DC United, they initially tried to get me to do interviews with other players at half-time, but I refused. I believe your attention is on the game, what needs to happen in the next 45 minutes, and how you can improve or improve further in the second half.

The new podcast from the ex-Manchester United and England striker is available on BBC Sounds, YouTube, and iPlayer twice per week.

In recent years, there have been other one-off matches held abroad, such as the Italian Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.

However, Rooney believes that playing games abroad with a devoted fan base at home is “just wrong” in the sense that it is.

He declared, “The TV and the broadcasters will do everything they can to get the most for the money they’re paying.”

However, you have devoted followers who travel all over the nation to watch you whenever you go home. And then they must pay the money that would be expected to be spent on, let’s say, a trip to the States, hotel, and travel in order for them to miss a game.

The BBC Sport YouTube and iPlayer streams the Wayne Rooney Show. BBC Sounds is available to listen to.
