After spending a “difficult year” playing rugby in France, Owen Farrell says he wants to return to playing for Saracens and “love every minute.”

The 33-year-old former Sarries captain said that his final years were “more and more precious” because he only made 17 appearances for Racing 92 during his first season.

On Monday, Farrell made his 16 glittering seasons at the club and became England’s skipper.

It’s the best, in my opinion. He stated on BBC Radio 5 Live, “I’ve had a difficult year, and these years are now getting more and more precious,” and he is determined to make the most of what is ahead.

“I believe this is the best place to do it,” said one of the participants.

Farrell made 256 appearances for the north London club since 2008 when he first started his professional career with Saracens.

Farrell and fellow England legends Maro Itoje, Jamie George, Mako and Billy Vunipola were a key members of a dominant Sarries team that won six Premiership titles and three European Champions Cups, including the double in 2016 and 2019, together with fellow teammates Maro Itoje, Jamie George, Mako, and Billy Vunipola.

No regrets about the racing decision

Farrell rose to prominence in the England national team as a result of his leadership at StoneX Stadium in 2018.

He led the team to the 2019 World Cup final, won three Six Nations Championships, and won 112 international caps overall.

Before declaring he would step down from international duty for mental health reasons, he led the team to a third-place finish in Paris four years later.

Before the club agreed to end his contract a year early, Racing placed 10th in the French top flight during his only injury-hit year with them.

“I’d have liked to have played more,” he said. While I was out there, I would have liked to sometimes feel more like myself, he said.

England’s hypothetical return

Farrell is once more available for England selection because he has won the Premiership once more.

The British and Irish Lions, led by Farrell’s father Andy, will play Argentina on Friday while Steve Borthwick’s side will make a three-test tour there next month.

A return for either side was “hypothetical,” he said.

It’s great to see how England have been faring since I’ve known Steve, and I’m confident that they will really take off in Argentina, according to Farrell.
