Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, a musician known as K1 De Ultimate, was the subject of an investigation launched by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The musician allegedly spitted alcohol on an airport employee on Tuesday while boarding at the Abuja-based Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
According to FAAN spokesman Obiageli Orah, the flight’s Lagos-bound flight was going to be run by ValueJet Airlines.
Despite being repeatedly warned by Aviation Security personnel and the Flight Captain, the passenger attempted to bring an unidentified liquid substance on board, according to FAAN.
In violation of aviation regulations, the musician attempted to board the plane while carrying a flask filled with alcohol later.
The passenger was informed of this rule, but reportedly declined to do so.
An airline security officer demanded the passenger step aside as the boarding process proceeded for further clarification. The passenger allegedly refused to give the officer the alcohol-containing contents of the flask. The Flight Captain intervened, but he encountered similar resistance.
The singer allegedly moved to the front of the plane and allegedly refused to leave until security officers intervened to calm him down.
Regardless of the parties involved, “The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards.”
“This case is under thorough investigation, and all accountable parties will be held accountable by the law,” the statement read.
