For both the men’s and women’s FA Cup competitions, the Football Association has hired a Universal Music Group company to write anthems.
Similar to the Champions League anthem, the music will be played before each game.
The FA intends to appoint a British composer to write separate music for the men’s and women’s music competitions.
The music will also be provided to broadcasters so that they can use it during their tournament coverage on television. BBC and TNT own the rights to the men’s FA Cup, while Channel 4 and TNT both broadcast the women’s FA Cup.
Abide With Me, which was played in the FA Cup final, won’t be played in the anthems, according to sources who spoke to BBC Sport.
When Cardiff City defeated Arsenal 1-0 at Wembley in the hymn song tradition, it first sung it in 1927.
British composer Tony Britten wrote the 1992 champions league anthem, which has since become renowned thanks to former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane’s “magical” interpretation.
