Ioan Cunningham, a former head coach of Wales and Fiji, has joined the backroom staff at Scotland.

Sione Fukofuka, who was appointed head coach in December, will work closely with Cunningham in his new assistant position.

In the same pool as Scotland and Wales, Fiji impressed under Cunningham’s leadership at the previous summer’s Rugby World Cup.

Before leaving via mutual agreement in November 2024 amid a player contract dispute, he helped them achieve their highest ever World Rugby ranking of sixth while they were still in their native Wales.

Working with Scotland’s senior women’s rugby team, particularly the Scottish senior women’s team, is a really special honor and thrill, said Cunningham.

Working with such talented players and staff will help to advance Scotland’s women’s rugby program’s growth and development.
