The consortium that won the bid to run the Phoenix club has announced that former captain Ryan Brierley will step down as CEO of Salford.
Brierley, one of the players who left the club in the middle of the 2025 campaign, has ended his playing career at Oldham to take the position.
After the consortium of ex-Salford players Mason Caton-Brown, who had successfully applied for membership in the second-tier Championship through the Rugby Football League, was appointed, two days later, he was appointed.
Following a turbulent year, the old Red Devils of Salford club was liquidated on December 3rd, with heavy losses, late pay, and ultimately the end of their Super League status for 2026.

“I hope Oldham’s incredible supporters understand that this is about safeguarding something that all of us are passionate about and to which they belong.”
Oldham and Oldham both expressed congratulations to Brierley on “her new venture,” and expressed gratitude in a statement.
In a coincidence, Salford will play Oldham in their first game of the 2026 Championship season in mid-January.
Brierley continued, “It feels appropriate.” That game will be about rebirth, and it will celebrate rugby league itself.
