Ex-Barcelona star Neymar in Santos fan row after goal ruled out

After Santos were eliminated with a late goal, striker Neymar had a heated exchange with a fan, which put them in the Brazilian Serie A relegation zone.

The 33-year-old visited the stands on Wednesday night after returning from his boyhood club this year to talk to a fan who appeared to be remonstrating with him.

Neymar was agitated and gesticulated before giving a thumbs up as a teammate led him away.

One minute into added time, Alvaro Martin Barreal scored the winning goal for Santos, who had been pressing for a comeback after conceding two goals. Neymar celebrated in front of adoring home fans three minutes later after believing he had scored with a left-footed shot.

However, as the referee determined that the ball had not crossed the line, boos rang out across the Vila Belmiro stadium.

Santos are 17th in the 20-club league, with the bottom four moving to Serie B at the end of the season.
