Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has agreed to join Everton in a deal worth about £28 million.

Despite late interest from Fulham, the 26-year-old has finalized personal terms and will have a medical. The initial fee for the player is £24 million with additional costs of £3-4 million due in add-ons.

After a season of supporting roles, Dewsbury-Hall’s team won the Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Conference League, earning the trophy and earning qualification for the Champions League, and had initially been reluctant to leave Stamford Bridge.

Everton are also interested in signing Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, but they may drop out if the price drops after a second bid is rejected.

In manager David Moyes’ final press conference following the Premier League Summer Series, he said, “I believe there will be deals next week.” Although I believe we are getting closer, I also felt that four or five weeks ago.

We’re obviously nearing the tickly bits, and some things must be done.

Chelsea are negotiating multiple sales this week following the signing of Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax on Sunday.

Lesley Ugochukwu, 21, has agreed to join Burnley, who are also in advanced discussions with their Albanian international Armando Broja, 23.

Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea flop, did you?

Despite reuniting with Maresca, Dewsbury-Hall had trouble adapting to life at Chelsea.

He was hoping to play for his boyhood club in the Premier League after winning the championship for Leicester. He turned down moving to Brighton so that he could stay with the Foxes.

However, Chelsea’s decision in late June was too significant, especially as Leicester were pressing for the £30 million sale, which also involved a swap with teenage midfielder Michael Golding to move in the opposite direction, under the pressure to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) requirements.

Dewsbury-Hall made a good match for Maresca’s Chelsea system, but he didn’t play a half-part because Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez all started in front of him in the midfield pecking order.

He only started twice in the Premier League, but he eventually made an impression in their Conference League campaign, scoring four goals and coming off the bench to give Jadon Sancho the opener in the 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the May final.

Dewsbury-Hall made his first appearance for the club in the 3-0 final victory over Paris St-Germain, scoring his fifth goal for the club in a 4-1 victory over Benfica. He was primarily used as a substitute in the Club World Cup.

When given a chance, he did well for the Stamford Bridge side, but he soon started to do so after being a regular player who moved in and then dropped.

Due to Uefa’s recent punishment for financial control violations, Chelsea must sell players from their most recent Conference League team to maintain a “positive transfer balance” this summer, is particularly important.

If not, they can’t wait until September to sign Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, and Joao Pedro for the Champions League.
