Promoter Eddie Hearn calls a rematch between British rivals Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn “dead.”

In April’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Eubank defeated Benn by unanimous points.

Although a second fight had been scheduled for September 20th, it was revealed earlier this week that the match was unlikely to occur.

Hearn, the promoter of Benn, claimed that his fighter was now considering withdrawing from the rematch and instead focused on a chance to win the world title.

He revealed that the fight between Eubank and Benn is still ongoing.

“September 20th was the date; I think there might be some discussion about a fight in November.”

Benn doesn’t like waiting around or being messed up. A chance at the world title would be something he would enjoy and probably prefer.

“We would definitely look at that option if that presented itself.”

He claimed to be prepared to leave after signing a two-fight deal with BBC Sport. Following the first fight in September, there were many discussions over the location and dates.

They all came out and said he wasn’t ready after they all agreed on September 20.

Hearn continued, “We have to give them a chance,” when asked if Benn was willing to wait until the end of the year.

Good luck to you if you’re not ready to go back to war with Benn and prefer to sit at a poker table in Las Vegas. But let’s get started.

“We’re prepared to move on, drop down to 147, and win the world title,” Benn said.

The first fight was planned by Turki Alalshikh’s company, Ring Magazine, and it was assumed that the rematch would also be a part of the Riyadh Season promotion.

Alalshikh, who appeared on Saturday’s broadcast prior to Oleksandr Usyk’s victory over Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, said the Eubank-Benn fight might still exist and suggested January or February as potential alternate dates.

Eubank has not personally addressed the issue, and it’s not yet clear when a formal decision will be made.
