Tommy Fleetwood, England’s top player, will lead by three shots heading into Connecticut’s final competition.
After the second round, the 34-year-old held a three-way lead over the rookie to claim his first PGA Tour title.
Russell Henley and Keegan Bradley share the lead in the standings thanks to a superb seven-under-par 63 on Saturday.
Henley won the tournament with a nine-under-par 61 that included four birdies on his first six holes.
The American placed 13 under par, but Fleetwood made it to 14 under with an eagle on par five thirteenth.
Following a birdie on the 15th, Fleetwood was on a collision with another stroke to close out his round.
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy shot a two-under 68 while world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler sagged for a 72-over 72.
