Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, an England winger, was given a two-game suspension after being sent off against a France XV on Saturday.

Feyi-Waboso attempted a tackle on Antoine Hastoy with a swinging right arm, but he was shown a 34th-minute red card at Allianz Stadium.

The Exeter wing, age 22, dislocated his shoulder in December, making it impossible for them to play in their second-test series in Argentina, which means he was forced to miss England’s Six Nations campaign.

Feyi-Waboso will be able to play the final game of England’s summer tour against the United States on Saturday, July 19 after finishing World Rugby’s coaching intervention program, which is formally known as tackle school.

According to World Rugby, “Feyi-Waboso’s actions were in direct opposition to Law 9.13 (dangerous tackle) and presented a significant risk.”

Cameron Woki, a France international who was also sent off after his yellow card was redacted for an illegal foul on England hooker Jamie George, will now face a full disciplinary hearing.

Steve Borthwick, England’s head coach, will announce his summer touring party on Monday.

Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will now be a part of Steve Borthwick’s touring squad when he names it on Monday rather than take him with only a run-out against the United States in Washington, DC.

Feyi-Waboso might find it all to be the best. After six months out, it was believed that a full pre-season with his club Exeter might be the best way for him to return to his highs from during his breakout 2024 campaign.

His British and Irish Lions’ chances are less severely affected by this ban.

Feyi-Waboso could serve his suspension and be free to face the Wallabies given their packed schedule, which includes two games per week in the lead-up to the first Test on July 19. Lions coach Andy Farrell should make a big decision, though, to call up a player who has been out for so long and spent so little time on his comeback, despite his best efforts.

The possibilities it opens up for other wings to claim a spot on England’s tour are perhaps the most intriguing. Both Adam Radwan and Ollie Hassell-Collins, who were both cut out for a second-string France XV, will be keeping their phones on loud. Tom Roebuck, a Sale star on Saturday, is starting to appear on the team roster as one of the first names.

Will Muir, who had a hamstring injury that prevented him from competing at the Six Nations, and Cadan Murley, who had a difficult debut against Ireland in Dublin, will both be able to. Both Bath-bound Henry Arundell and Bristol-based Gabriel Ibitoye offer a high-revving pace.
