Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston have heard from Emma Willis about her heart surgery ordeal, explaining what transpired during the ‘funny’ operation and what her future holds.
Following her heart surgery, Emma Willis made a devastating admission. The presenter, 49, had her entire life without realizing she had a “hole in her heart.” Instead, she underwent keyhole heart surgery.
And now, she has admitted she still has palpitations and might have to deal with it forever. Emma, who is married to Busted singer Matt Willis, revealed the build-up to the operation was “scary” as she explained the procedure to Heart Breakfast’s Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden.
She described having “a little device fitted into my heart to fill a hole that I never knew existed” with the presenters. And Emma continued, “I always had palpitations, but kind of fitting with what was happening in life,” when Amanda inquired about any side effects.
If I had a night out or if I was a little stressed out, then. So they kind of stuck with me. However, I’ve had them a lot for the past few years, and they’ve since increased. However, I also have very high cholesterol, so I was referred to a cardiologist.
“So, it wasn’t even intended for that,” he continued. And then he said, “Actually, it’s okay, but there’s something going on with your heart and I want to check it out,” when I got there.
She continued, claiming that the fluttering had “definitely died down” but that it might still exist. “My heart needs to sort of learn to sort of go back to normal.”
Emma first made her condition public. She stated at the time, “I had keyhole heart surgery a few weeks ago, which feels strange and even stranger when I say it out loud.
They were “absolutely incredible,” they said, “from investigations last year to diagnosis and then surgery.” As did @mattjwillis, who never left me.
Turns out, I’ve been pottering around in blissful ignorance for 48 years because of a mind-blown emoji. Isn’t it crazy what’s happening in our bodies when we have no idea about it?
The presenter continued, “The wonders of modern medicine, and the amazing people who save, fix, and help us every day, blow my mind even more.” She then referred to the doctors, nurses, and patients who had supported her throughout the entire procedure.
As fans and friends flocked to the comments section to send well wishes, she also shared images of her in a hospital. Charlotte Hawkins, who retorted the message, was one of the recipients who said, “Oh my goodness, glad all is well! We extend love to you,” said Judi Love, adding, “Oh we thank you for having a great team and recovering hun.”
