A reboot of the renowned game show Blind Date, which was first broadcast by Cilla Black and ran from 1985 until 2003, is reportedly being planned for Emily Atack.
Emily Atack is reportedly being touted for a reboot of Blind Date. The classic game show was fronted by late TV legend Cilla Black from 1985 until 2003, and its format saw three members of the same sex face questions from a member of the opposite sex, who was placed out of their sight.
In the end, the contestant would choose which of the three men or women they were to take on a date. The programme was briefly revived two years on from Cilla’s 2015 death, this time fronted by Paul O’Grady, but it’s now thought to be heading back to screens with former Inbetweeners star Emily, 36, at the helm.
A source said: “Execs want someone youthful, fun, glamorous, but also relatable to the youngsters who’ll form the bulk of the contestants. Emily has always been candid about her own rollercoaster love life, before eventually finding the right man and settling down with a family.

She would be a popular face that many people could relate to in addition to the love and happiness that many people would seek out in her.
Whilst both runs of the original series were broadcast on ITV, The Sun reports that this time round, it will be a Disney+ production. Emily, who is the daughter of comedienne Kate Robbins, and niece of Coronation Street star Amy Robbins, who stars as Christina Boyd on the ITV soap.
The actress already has a connection to Cilla, as her mother wrote the theme song for the late singer’s musical show Surprise, Surprise! and voiced a parody of the television star for a sketch on Spitting Image in the early 1990s. She also appeared on Harry Enfield &, Chums and sang her on the early 1990s.
Emily initially found fame herself when she was cast in Charlotte Hinchcliffe in the E4 comedy The Inbetweeners, and built her career by competing on hit reality shows like Dancing on Ice and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! She then found further success with her role as Sarah Stratton in the Disney+ hit Rivals, which was based on the book by the late Jilly Cooper and is due to return for a second series in 2026.
Away from the world of showbiz, Emily is mother to 18-month-old Barney with partner Dr Alistair Garner. She is normally keen to keep her love life out of the public eye, but previously opened up about her romance with Alistair, whom she began dating in 2023.
Before falling in love with Alistair, Emily admitted to feeling “lonely” while speaking to The Times. She said, “I feel like my entire life had been building up to that point, both in terms of getting to play in that show and in terms of my personal life.” The universe seems to have converged. That is how it feels, really.
Emily acknowledged that she had never experienced true love before and that it was never going to be a pop star or a movie star, despite the fact that she and her partner have different careers. That was never going to happen. All of that has been accomplished by me. I needed a trustworthy, skeptical person. And I adore being safe. I’m at peace for the entire. Because of this, I don’t believe I’ve ever had true love before.
