The 39-year-old singer, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Beau Minniear, made the revelation during an appearance on Brooks Nader’s reality series Love Thy Nader, which is available on Disney+.
The friends, who shared a cheeky smooch back in 2024, were discussing relationships in scenes filmed last summer when Brooks, 28, fresh from her break-up with Dancing with the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko, quipped about potentially dating women.
Ellie responded, “That’s what I do,” to which the model had suggested, “Maybe I’ll turn the other way.” Every time, it works. It’s unclear whether Ellie was taking matters seriously, though. The singer then proceeded to share her heartfelt feelings about love, having already got her four-year-old son Alfred with her ex-husband Caspar Jopling.

Ellie, who is set to release her sixth studio album in the coming months, added: “We should just appreciate it as the moment that it is, and then when it goes away, be appreciative that it’s happened and that we got to experience it. It’s all about being the amazing woman that you are, and then guys are just an accessory every now and again.”
The remarks were captured just before she was romantically linked to actor Beau in July, but only aired recently on the show. Ellie unveiled her pregnancy in December when she graced the 2025 Fashion Awards red carpet with a prominent baby bump.
The couple have taken a vacation in Italy since Ellie and Beau’s relationship became public in September 2025. Even Bleu even captured a candid photo of Ellie lounging in a shoddy hotel bed. In Ellie’s most recent music video for “Destiny,” Beau also appears in a few steamy scenes.
The mother-of-one made the decision to publicly announce that her five-year marriage to Caspar, 33, had ended when photos emerged in 2024 of Ellie and Brazilian surf instructor Armando Perez kissing passionately in the sea.
Addressing their split on Instagram, she wrote: “In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son’s best interests at heart.”
Ellie first met Radio 1 presenter Greg James, now 38, at one of her live gigs, and they dated before ending their relationship ‘amicably’ due to work pressures after 18 months. A source said to The Sun at the time: “It was just a real struggle for them to be in the same place at the same time.” They added: “The split is amicable and they are still friends.”
The singer, 37, whose real name is Sonny John Moor, then dated American musician Skrillex. The actor had a brief seven-month romance in 2012, but the distance aspect became too difficult. Before he rose to fame with movies like War Horse and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, she later dated 35-year-old actor Jeremy Irvine for just under a year.
Rumours swirled around Ellie and Ed Sheeran, 34, after they were seen holding hands at the MTV VMA awards in August 2013. However, Ellie quickly took to Twitter, now known as X, to quash the rumours, insisting they were merely good friends.
In an interview with Elle, she firmly denied dating Ed, but admitted to having a brief fling with Niall Horan, 31. She claimed that although she had a few dates with Niall, she had never been engaged to Ed Sheeran. I have no idea how that came about and why it became such a big deal. Why are female musicians constantly categorized by the men they have or aren’t dating frustrates me. I’ve had a lot of conversation about it with Taylor (Swift). She is undoubtedly inclined to believe that.
One of her most famous romances, which reportedly ended in 2016, was a two-year affair between Ellie and McFly drummer Dougie Poynter, 37. Ellie acknowledged that their relationship had ended, and that’s been difficult because she’s no longer in a relationship. I and my head will benefit from a break, too.
