EFCC Investigates Two Suspects In Kano For Alleged Fake $899,800

Two suspects who were detained with counterfeit amounts of $899 and 800 have been formally investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s (Kano Zonal Directorate).

The suspects, Abubakar Hussaini, 42, and Sahabi Adamu, 53, were initially apprehended by agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) along Maiduguri Road in Wudil, Kano State, according to a statement on X.

They were also traveling to Kila Village in Jigawa State’s Gwaram Local Government Area, LGA, in a commercial Golf 3 Station Wagon car.

The NDLEA team located the allegedly fake notes inside a Maggi Star seasoning carton after conducting a search. After that, the EFCC received the suspects and exhibits for further investigation.

According to preliminary findings, the suspects were taking the fake currency to Kila Village to meet Muhammad Walo, a self-declared spiritualist who claimed to be capable of “transforming” counterfeit dollars into real currency through ritual prayers.
