After having a clarity about becoming a father, singing sensation Ed Sheeran has acknowledged the significant life changes he made.
Ed Sheeran has spoken about his journey into getting fit after becoming a father – admitting he is a “pizza-eating, beer-guzzling smoker” at heart. Singer and songwriter Ed said he lived a pretty unhealthy life from 20 to 30 but had a moment of clarity when his eldest daughter woke him from an alcohol-induced slumber.
He exclaimed, “I became a father.” My oldest daughter, Lyra, and I had a bottle of wine and our best mate round when we were two weeks old. After I slept through the night, Lyra woke up 20 minutes later than I did. When I woke up, I was like, “F*ck, I probably shouldn’t drink if I’m going to feel this awful,” I want to be able to spend the night.
It all started with wanting to feel good and look good while also wanting to be a responsible father. I opposed having my back f****d and other such things picked up my child. And then there’s the professional life aspect; I wanted to be “superhuman” on stage.

The 34-year-old added in his chat with Men’s Health UK: “I think, underneath it all, I am a pizza-eating, beer-guzzling smoker, but that’s just not my reality as a parent in my thirties. I think that you have to make good decisions.
“My first 10K during Covid, which I’d never run for more than a kilometer, just makes you feel better. It’s like that.” And I believe that’s where I’m at in my 30s. I still drink, but I’m not saying I’m done with enjoying myself. Although I enjoy red wine and a good meal, it doesn’t happen every day.
A Team, Ed’s breakthrough hit, reached No. 3 in 2011 with a top-five finish. He recorded his first Number 1 single with Sing, which featured Pharrell Williams, in June 2014, and followed that up. Since then, he has become one of the most well-known artists in both the UK and the US chart.
All 16 of his albums, including Divide, made their debut in the UK Top 40 in 2017, which meant there is now only three lead artist entries on the chart. Additionally, Ed released his ninth Official UK Number 1 album with Play earlier this year.
He and Cherry Seaborn have two daughters, Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran and Lyra Antarctica, and they are married. Ed claimed that his motivation came from fellow artists’ routines, such as Stormy, who perform pressups before performing on stage. However, he believes that any parent his age will likely be affected by his lifestyle changes.
He added, “I do believe it’s relatable for parents to suddenly want to be a little more healthy and have a little more routine.” And the good news about reformer[/pilates] is that it’s a really gentle introduction to]fitness[/pilates] and that anyone can start with it. I don’t recommend running marathons for everyone, just blah. Additionally, I don’t sell anything that’s super-healthy, like this or that.
