Before her lavish wedding to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, Ed Sheeran, the Shivers star has revealed his friendship with Taylor Swift.
Ed Sheeran has set the record straight on his friendship with Taylor Swift after reports of a fallout between the pair. The Shivers star, 34, has been pals with the Bad Blood billionaire, 35, for years, with Taylor even calling Ed her ‘second brother’.
However, rumours started to swirl when Ed, who doesn’t have a mobile phone, admitted he only found out about Taylor’s star-studded wedding to Travis Kelce when she posted the news on Instagram. There were also concerns that the Americana star had dropped her album, The Life Of A Showgirl, so close to Ed’s own offering, Play.
According to a source in the music business, Ed “takes these things seriously and carefully plans his album releases.” He gave four months’ notice for his album, but Taylor gave only two weeks’ notice for hers.

They continued: “It left his team scrabbling to get as much attention before hers dropped. He was very much put out and understandably peeved,” reports the Mail.
The Shape of You star has now confirmed that he spoke to Taylor a week after she got engaged and that the pair are still as friendly as ever.
The Castle On A Hill hitmaker told Access Hollywood, “I’m not self-conscious about my relationship with her.” He continued, “We’ve known each other for a very, very long time.
We are very close, and we can only see one another when we can see one another, and when we can, we can pick up where we left off.
He continued, “My way of seeing it is like, I and Taylor are mates and I will see her,” referring to him declaring that he hadn’t discovered he hadn’t discovered Taylor’s wedding until everyone else.
I went to see her a week after that happened, so I did the interview, and I met her and we spoke in person.
Meanwhile, musing on not having a mobile phone and the ‘all-consuming’ world of social media, he concluded: “I kind of feel like being in touch with everyone, you sort of lose actual human connection.”
In a statement from Ed to Zane Lowe for Apple Music in 2023, Taylor claimed that she was one of the few people who truly understood him and that Taylor was one of the few people who did so.
We talked about everything we had on our minds when we had an hour and twenty-minute conversation with her yesterday. You’re speaking to someone who genuinely understands it, which is therapy in itself.
