Charlie Eastwood of Northern Ireland has been chosen as one of Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team’s three simulator drivers.

Eastwood has won the Le Mans 24 hour race and previously worked as a simulator driver for the Mercedes F1 team. He also competes in the World Endurance Championship.

In 2026, American automaker Cadillac announced the names of Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez as their drivers.

Formula 1 team simulator drivers work in their factories to create the vehicles and test new components, and they also provide support to the racers by testing setups in connection with the real-world Grand Prix on weekends.

Eastwood described Eastwood as “extremely honored” to be involved in the Cadillac F1 project.

By supporting the team through simulator work and development programs based on their prior experiences, Eastwood, 30, said, “I will be able to contribute to their Formula 1 entry.”

“I want to thank Cadillac for the trust they have in me, especially at such a crucial time.

Eastwood won the most recent round of Fuji in the LMGT3 class while serving as a factory driver for Corvette, a sister brand of Cadillac under the General Motors banner.
