Cheryl Fergison, the star of EastEnders, returned to television screens with the unexpected help of soap fans after opening up about her financial struggles since leaving Walford.
A fan-favourite EastEnders made an unexpected return to TV, leaving viewers thrilled. Cheryl Fergison, who played the iconic Heather Trott on the BBC soap, has been open about her lack of work in recent years.
The actress revealed her financial struggles after leaving the soap in 2012, and shared how she got help from a foodbank as well as EastEnders legend Dame Barbara Windsor. Following the challenging time, Cheryl has made a comeback to the small screen.
She rocked up in Mandy, a comedy series on BBC Two, to shock viewers. The actress appeared as a guest on Diane Morgan’s television series.
It follows Mandy Carter’s and Lola’s ongoing affairs as she battles her long-distance. Maddy was forced to enroll in a restart program at her neighborhood job center, where Cheryl and Stella, who she had never seen before, were to play.
Stella only described one interaction with Mandy as “dirty,” as she only did one. Fans of Cheryl’s return to the big screen elicited her as one person said, “Obsessed with Cheryl’s two words Fergison. She did a fantastic job.
Another added: “Congrats Cheryl!” Someone else commented: “Can we talk about the amount of cameos in Mandy cuz what do u mean Cheryl Fergison and Martin Lewis casually popped up within the first ep of series 4?”
Ar Cheryl is in “Mandy’s new season,” according to a fourth statement. Cheryl garnered a sizable following on EastEnders before sensationally killing off her character.
She was struck in the head on the ground by Ben Mitchell after being smacked over the head with a picture frame. Cheryl opened up about her struggles earlier this year, making it less easy to come back to life after the soap.
She revealed she had turned to a food bank for help and was relying on benefits. In order to try and make ends meet, Cheryl settled for far smaller jobs including opening a Chinese takeaway in Cleveleys earlier this year.
The actress claimed Casino. “My health is good, but my finances will need to recover for a while. I’m just surviving without a steady job and I’m not wealthy or comfortable.
I’ve been saying “yes to everything for no money,” but I need to start asking for fair pay for my labor. Even my agent insists on it.
She continued, “I’ll never give in,” though. I want to continue to sing. I’ll be better off if people criticize my singing in small restaurants. I’m an entertainer at the end of the day. I’ve always valued community, so I’ll always be there in the crowd.
Once at the top of her game as a primetime BBC star, Cheryl fell into dire straits after she was conned out of a ‘humungous’ amount of money. She said on This Morning: “There is a circumstance that started this, which I can’t talk about at this moment in time, but it started to spiral.
“I can only speculate that I was duped into paying a huge sum of money,” I said. The cancer thing resulted in a spiraling situation. I was stealing Paul’s money from Peter. In the end, I had to sell my home. I currently rent and live in the north.
