The actress became a favourite with fans on the BBC soap EastEnders since her debut in 2021. The 50-year-old plays the role of Eve Panesar-Unwin, enthralling audiences with the romantic storyline with Suki Panesar, played by Balvinder Sopal, the two women fell in love as Suki escaped a controlling relationship with ex-husband Nish Panesar.
Ellie Dickinson, Heather’s real-life wife, was also recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and the couple now have twins, Jesse and Lola, age 8, and three daughters, Annie, 10, and Annie, 8, who are both now eight.
Ellie had a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy to treat a smaller but fierce tumour after being heartbrokenly diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Heather was about to begin radiotherapy after having a significantly larger 12cm tumour underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy.

Finding her own lump after noticing a change in her nipple, Heather admits she tried putting off getting checked at the time because of her EastEnders filming schedule. But wife Ellie told Heather she must go right away, but they were shocked to discover Heather had breast cancer within just three hours of seeing a doctor.

The actress wore a wig on the Eastenders set as her cancer battle progressed, and she claimed the hardest part of her appearance has been the “devastating” hair loss. She claimed that this made her feel self-conscious, adding that she also lost both her eyebrows and eyelashes.
Heather shared the news that she had passed the “end of nine long months” after she revealed her secret battle with breast cancer in May.
