Dr. Hilary Jones, an illustrious ITV medical expert, has revealed how he will leave the network after 36 years of service as a result of workforce reductions that will see the number of employees cut in half.
Lorraine star Dr Hilary Jones has opened up about his departure from the hit ITV show after being on the air for 36 years. Hilary is leaving after it was announced that the morning offering is set to be cut to 30 minutes long from January.
It will air for just 30 weeks of the year as opposed to 52 because of the reduced schedule. The 72-year-old medical specialist has also admitted that he believes there won’t be any money for him to hold a leaving party.
He stated, “I’ll be a free agent until December 31 and then I’m still working there.” It breaks the monotony of being a presenter of a news program. I’ll probably return occasionally as a guest presenter.
He then went on to explain why the popular television program is changing, noting that many viewers are now having to leave. He added, “People are being very sensitive to the fact that some people are having to leave.”
Many people are being moved elsewhere or in the same position. Like everyone else, ITV must alter things. When asked if ITV would host a leave-of-placement party for those who are fired, he responded, “It would be lovely if they did, but we will wait and see on that one because money is tight.
“We will all be going out anyway, regardless of whether they pay or not, because there are some groups of us who feel like we’re a part of a family.” We’re very happy to put money in our pockets.
Hilary added that, while attending the Best Hero awards, “I think many saw changes coming, and I think people at work know where they are.”
As ITV Studios’ daytime operations attempt to recover their financial losses, the workforce will be reduced by half as a result of the changes. The network’s most recent financial results revealed a 30% decline in profits for the first half of this year.
Television presenter Lorraine Kelly opened up about the slashing of her show for the first time about the cuts, calling them “heartbreaking.” In addition, the actress pledged to continue producing her own self-titled program despite earlier rumors that she was departing.
Speaking to The Mirror she said, “I don’t see me going anywhere until people get fed up, you know? Until people say, I’ve had enough of that one. It’s really heartbreaking to split up the team, a lot of my team have been with me for more than 20 years and they’re my friends.
They have always been my parents. They had their first child with me when they first started out, and they now have their own. Lorraine said she was pleased that a significant portion of the team had since been redistributed to other programs.
She continued, “It’s been difficult, it’s been hard, with the cuts. Although it was completely focused on the team, I’m much happier about it now. For me, this was about the team, not me. I wasn’t enraged or annoyed.
