Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro running back Doug Martin passed away. He was 36.
“Doug Martin passed away on Saturday morning, and I’m so sorry to inform you all.” The cause of death is not known at this time. His family wrote to Fox Sports to ask that you respect our privacy at this time.

Following a stellar Boise State career, Martin was selected 31st overall in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft. As a rookie, he ran for 1, 454 yards, and 11 touchdowns to earn a Pro Bowl spot. In 2015, he made the Pro Bowl and was first-team All-Pro, rushing for 1,402 yards and converting for a TD.
In six seasons with the Buccaneers and one with the Raiders, Martin finished his career with 5 356 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also registered 148 catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
The Buccaneers announced in a statement that “we are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of Doug Martin.” Doug left a lasting impression on our franchise.
In the spirit of the team’s celebration marking its 50th anniversary, Martin was chosen as one of the top 50 players in franchise history.
In 2018, he played for the Oakland Raiders for the final time in his seven years.
