Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka has been given a five-year contract by Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old joined the German club in a deal that could be worth about £24 million after spending the second half of last season on loan there.
After earning a £20 million move from Aston Villa in 2022, the attacking midfielder made 32 appearances for Chelsea.
Aaron Anselmino, a Blues defender, has agreed to join Dortmund on a season-long loan and flown to Germany to finish the deal.
The Blues must maintain a positive transfer balance this summer in order to be able to sign their new signings for the Champions League this year, according to the governing body of European football, Uefa.
It comes after they were fined £26.7 million for breaking Uefa’s football earnings guidelines and had a squad cost ratio of over 80% of their income split up in wages.
Before the transfer deadline on Monday, a number of other players, including defender Ben Chilwell, winger Raheem Sterling, and forwards Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, and Tyrique George, have been linked with leaving Stamford Bridge.
